Tuesday Ten

Standard

Because all the cool kids are doing it (namely two of my writing partners)…
1. It’s October. How the hell is it October? Wasn’t it just June? *sadly waves goodbye as the warmth slowly seeps from the earth* At least it being Autumn means fresh, local apples and warm mulled cider.

2. I want to go apple-picking this year. I’ve never been and for some reason I have the urge to do it. One of these weekends.

3. I fell back into my old habits of just sitting on my butt in front of the computer all day. Now more of my jeans don’t fit. This means it’s back to letting Jillian Michaels kick my butt again.

4. At least I’m eating better and drinking more water. Today’s lunch was baby spinach with feta cheese and walnuts and just a little dash of balsamic vinegar.

5. Speaking of food… I made lemon-raspberry bars the other night. OMGYUM! They’re not the healthiest snack ever (a full cup of butter and nearly 3 cups of sugar! YIKES!) but they are so delicious and so flavorful that only a small piece is satisfying.

6. Speaking even more of food… It’s a cold and rainy day so think I’m going to make some corn chowder in the crock pot for dinner tonight.

7. Autumn is generally when my husband’s job gets super busy. This means he’s been working seven days a week for at least 9-10 hours a day. Having the alarm go off at 5am (or earlier) every morning is really throwing my sleep schedule off and I’m certainly feeling the effects.

8. I also haven’t seen him very much and I kind of miss him.

9. Because of the continuing wangst surrounding negative reviews I’ve decided not to continue rating my 52 books in 52 weeks list. I’ll still add the books I’ve read to the list though. If anyone wants to know what I think of certain books, definitely feel free to ask and I’ll be more than happy to tell you.

10. My birthday is coming up. I’ll be 32 this year. I seriously do not feel that old.

Bonus 11. Halloween/Samhain is also right around the corner. This makes me ridiculously happy.

Monday… More Bleh Than Manic

Standard

Today is definitely Monday and I’m going to indulge in a bit of a whine fest.

It’s getting colder, which, after the scorching summer we had, isn’t so bad except that I don’t do so well with the cold. Anything under 70 degrees and my fingers and toes become icicles. This morning I woke up to the thermostat reading 67. Brrr… I am currently writing this while swaddled in a thick blanket and drinking very hot tea while I wait for the almost sunny day to warm the house a bit.

It’s too early to turn the heat on, but damned if I don’t want to go out and buy a little space heater for under my desk.

Along with the cold, I’m dealing with an achy tooth that is making my ear and head ache as well. It’s actually a stub of a tooth from where a root canal cap fell out many, many years ago. It’s bothered me off and on throughout the years, but nothing like this before. So, it’s time to call the dentist and have it pulled. That is, if the secretary at my husband’s work remembered to put me on his dental plan. We can’t seem to find a dental insurance card with my name on it.

Oh, and my sinuses are plugged up. Whether that’s from the tooth or the cold, I don’t know.

I have a blog post for Black Ink, White Paper to write before Wednesday, a girl’s night out with my best friends tomorrow night, tea with another friend on Thursday, and a possible play date with my niece and nephew on Friday. Add in a trip to the grocery store as well as WalMart and I’ve about reached my limit for the week.

I also need to get some writing done. I haven’t written much in the last week or so and I need to change that.

All I want to do right now is snuggle up in my chair and play Glitch. It’s all Lilith SaintCrow’s fault. I have no idea what I’m doing, what I’m supposed to be doing it, or why I’m doing it, but I’m having fun. My favorite part seems to be nibbling the pigs to get meat and squeezing chickens to get grain (don’t ask me why you get grain from squeezing chickens, it’s best not to think about where that grain is coming from. And you get eggs from trees. Go figure!). At some point I might figure out the point of the game, but for now I’m just having fun wandering around.

Also, just as a reminder, October is the month of awesome guest blogs here at The End of Nowhere starting tomorrow with a great post by my friend Elizabeth a.k.a. LizzieBelle.

Happy Autumn!

Standard

The leaves on the maple tree next to our house are starting to turn bright orange, but most of the trees in our neighborhood are still green. Halloween is just over a month away and my birthday is only three weeks away.

Yikes!

Where has the year gone?

This week I’ve been busy working on When Demons Cry because it got jealous of all the time I was spending on Zombies!. WDC is coming together quite nicely and it’s getting to be about the time I start joining the random scenes together and make the written story a bit more cohesive.

I’ve also been working on the latest round of revisions for Cameron. She just had a few things she thought needed a bit more clarity and a couple instances where she thought the motivations of the characters were weak or non-existent. So, those are almost done and she should have the changes in her hand by Monday. YAY!

That means we’ll be just about ready to go on submission to editors. *bites nails anxiously*

Tonight I head up to a friend’s farm to celebrate Harvest. Mmm… good food, great people, spiritual nurturing… Of course, it’s supposed to be rainy as all get out, but that just means it’ll be the perfect weather to be able to burn the wicker man. *big grin*

Tomorrow, again a very rainy day being called for, is the 12th annual Western MA Pagan Pride Day. I’m actually hoping they end up canceling it because I really don’t want to spend two days outside in the rain. I’m willing to endure it for Harvest, but not so much for PPD.

What are your plans for the first weekend of Autumn?
